The first day of training for judges and prosecutors on the topic "Sensitive treatment of LGBTIQ persons in court proceedings" was held today in Budva.

The topics of the first day of the training were Theoretical introduction to distinguishing sex and gender, Gender boxes (exercise to distinguish between gender and gender characteristics), Theoretical explanation of LGBTIQ identity, Stereotypes and prejudices related to gays and lesbians and discussion of the differences between them, as well as Transgender and intersex persons - specifics and best practice.

The lecturers at the training were Semra Martinovic from the Directorate for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights, Ivan Vukcevic, program director at CeMI, Danijel Kalezic, the Head of the Governing Board at Queer Montenegro, Jovan Dzoli Ulicevic, the CEO of the Spektra Association

The training was held within the project "Equality of LGBTIQ persons before the law - Improvement of the rights of LGBTIQ persons in court proceedings" implemented by CeMI and financed by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights of Montenegro.
