A three-day seminar on the Judiciary system in Montenegro

From March 7th-9th in Palas Hotel in Petrovac, a three-day seminar was held, on the judicial system in Montenegro.

The participants were representatives of local NGOs with the goal of increasing their capacities to contribute to the integrity of the judiciary.

The seminar was held within the project “Judicial Reform: Upgrading CSO's Capacities to Contribute to the Integrity of the Judiciary”, financed by the European Union.

During the first day of the seminar, lectures were given by the legal expert Milorad Markovic and the Project Coordinator in the Centre for Monitoring and Research, Bojan Bozovic. The topics were: Freedom of Expression in front of the European Court for Human Rights; Educations, selection and the advancement of judges and prosecutors and the Rationalization of the judicial network in Montenegro and comparative experiences. At the end of the day, the first part of the workshop was organized, on the topic of writing applications to the ECHR.

During the second day of the seminar, lectures were held by the President of the Judicial Council of Montenegro Mladen Vukcevic PhD and Bojan Bozovic. The topics were: The Constitutional Court of Montenegro; Discipline responsibility and ethical treatment of judges; Property seizure in the charges for money laundering and the challenges in the use of new criminal law institutes.

During the third day of the seminar, lectures were held by Milena Bozovic (Court of Appeals) and Bojan Bozovic. The topics were: Custody in Montenegrin legislation – theory and practice; Peaceful resolution of disputes and ECHR and verdicts against Montenegro. At the end of the day, a second part of the workshop was organized on the topic: writing applications to the ECHR.
