Montenegrin citizens have, via application Zdravo Zdravstvo, mostly reported violation of their rights as patients, long waiting for a healthcare service, but also positive examples of the performance of healthcare workers.

Application Zdravo Zdravstvo was created within the project “Healthcare System and Patients’ Rights in Montenegro – Winning Citizens’ Confidence”, which is funded by the European Union represented by Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro.

The most complaints were from Podgorica, Niksic and Kotor

The most complaints referred to violation of their rights as patients, long waiting for a healthcare service, but there were also positive examples of the performance of healthcare workers. Citizens also reported cases of violation of right to privacy and diagosis, as well as corruption.

When it comes to cases of violation of right to privacy, it is evident that Community Health Centres don’t provide complete protection of privacy during the gynecologyst examination or during the ECG examination.

Especially are evident reports referring to the inaccessibility for persons with, which contain photos as supporting evidence.

The complaint states that the barrier is very steep and it is not very suitable for persons with disabilities. Community Health Center in Niksic responded that the project of building a barrier is in progress as the tender for the construction was announced in 2016, and that „persons with special needs“ use the barrier.

This application enabled citizens to point to the problem, and afterwards CeMI reacted and received an answer, but we can not ignore the fact that the phrase „persons with special needs“ was used, which is unacceptable, especially when it comes from healthcare workers.

We invite citizens to send their complaints via website www.zdravozdravstvo.me or via mobile application Zdravo Zdravstvo, which is available in Google Play store.
