Maja Bjelic, project coordinator of CeMI this morning on Gradska TV, invited citizens to report corruption in health care system through the mobile and web app Za zdravije zdravstvo. Application is available for iOS and Android devices, as well as through the website www.zazdravijezdravstvo.me.
She pointed out that the findings of the public opinion poll conducted by CeMI, in which almost 60% of respondents stated that corruption in health care system is present, showed the undoubted need for the implementation of this project.
In accordance with earlier efforts for fight against corruption in health care system, CeMI improved the mobile and web application and enabled citizens to directly participate in fight against corruption by submitting applications through the aforementioned application. Reporting on the corruption could be done in a very simple way, by adding description of the problem or situation being reported. The application also allows adding photos, audio or video content, after which the citizen submits the report. Legal team of CeMI is analyzing all reports and will react in accordance with the nature of reports by informing the public and relevant institutions about the specific violation,'' Bjelic said.
She pointed out that nothing can justify corruption in healthcare system and that, both, citizens and health care workers are responsible for it.
In addition to the presence of corruption, both sides are also responsible for the insufficient level of information citizens about their rights. Health care workers often do not inform the patient about his/her rights and who could protect him/her in case of violation of patients’ rights.
