Supporting EU integration of Montenegro - for independent and professional Judiciary as a key precondition!
The Centre for Monitoring and Research CeMI, in partnership with the Center for Investigative Journalism of Montenegro CIN-CG and the Center for Civic Freedoms CEGAS, is implementing the project "Supporting EU integration of Montenegro – for independent and professional Judiciary as a key precondition!" The goal of this project is a deeper engagement in the EU integration process of Montenegro, with an emphasis on the key chapters 23 and 24. The project is aimed at improving the rule of law, good governance, and protection of human rights, with a special focus on promoting the accessibility of justice and professionalism of the judicial system.
This initiative continues CeMI's tradition of trial monitoring, which has been ongoing for almost two decades, with the aim of detailed monitoring and analysis of judicial processes and protection of human rights. Through this project, a careful analysis of judicial conduct is planned, based on which CeMI and CEGAS will create reports and policy studies on current issues in the field of judiciary and human rights.
The project also includes a segment of investigative journalism, within which CIN-CG journalists will research essential topics related to Chapter 23 and other significant negotiation chapters with the EU, focusing on investigating corruption within judicial structures and human rights violations.
The project is supported by the European Commission (EIDHR).
