The misuse of state resources, institutions and public powers, from positions of power, and to deal with political competitors in the pre-election period, is a dangerous and worrying phenomenon that Montenegro has been facing for a long time, but which has received its most direct expression in this election cycle, announced is from the Centre for Monitoring and Research (CeMI).

In a system of weak and underdeveloped institutions, which are not exempt from political influence, the public remains agitated and worried due to accusations coming from the highest state positions, primarily from the Prime Minister towards the leader of PES.

Activities such as the convening of an extraordinary session of the National Security Council during the election campaign create unrest among citizens, who are left without complete information, relying only on media reports. We call on the holders of the highest state positions to refrain from such forms of behavior and not to abuse their powers for political purposes.

Instead, the competent institutions should be enabled to responsibly investigate all the allegations made, from both sides, and to provide accurate and timely information to the public.

In this way, citizens will be able to make informed decisions about future political leaders and system creators in Montenegro.
