The SEC made the wrong decision when it turned to the authorities of Serbia, because that is the job of the MUP, said Ognjen Mitrovic from CeMI in a guest appearance on TV E.
As he says, the controversial decision is also in the area of violation of the right to protection of personal data.
"The SEC could have returned the candidacy for revision, which might have been the best decision," says Mitrovic.
As he points out, the confirmed candidacy can only be reviewed before the Constitutional Court, which is still not in operation in our country.
"Electoral reforms are necessary and should start with the SEC, because it is more of a political than a legal body," points out Mitrovic.
When asked whether Europe now has the right to nominate another candidate, Mitrovic says that a group of citizens can do it, in a repeated signing procedure.
"The law did not foresee such a situation, so it would be questionable how the SEC would react," adds Mitrovic.
